Rehabilitation Float Tank
Flotation Therapy for downer cows
Proven to be the most effective and humane method for sick or injured cattle.
a service designed to
improve the lifespan
of your livestock
Here at Crawford Vet, we care about your cattle as much as you do. We recognize the options are limited when it comes to lifting and treating your cattle who may be sick, injured, or struggling due to mineral deficiencies. Getting your cows back on their feet can have significant long term repercussions to your herd as a whole.
Our mobile rehabilitation float tank is the only service of its kind in Ontario; it’s cost effective, humane, and we can guarantee higher success rates compared to traditional methods.
Combined with the diagnostics of our in-house laboratory, we can quickly gain insight into the cause of your downer cow. Whether it’s a mineral deficiency (Ca/P/Mg) or injury to your animal, we can differentiate the reason and provide targeted treatments along with a realistic prognosis.
How it works
We fill our cattle-sized float tank with 500 litres of water which is used to therapeutically float water around a cow. The warm water not only supports the weight of the cow, but also increases blood flow to the legs, allowing her to get up with ease.
Our float tank is delivered on a dedicated trailer and is equipped with both an industrial powered hot water heater and water tank and pump to quickly heat and transfer water into the tank.
we make livestock
